North Wilts Under 11s 5 - 2 Oxford Mail Boys League Under 11s

The North Wilts league U11s hosted their Oxford mail League counterparts at Shrivenham Fc on 14th November. Playing up a tiring slope the home side started the game with lots of energy and attacking play. Their pressure paid off after 10 minutes, when, following a brilliant run and cross by talented winger Harrison Lea, the equally dangerous Edward Hobbs, smashed the ball into the Oxford net. North Wilts dominance continued in the first half and was rewarded by a classy finish from Daniel Hopper and second well taken goal from Edward Hobbs. The Finleys (Byrne and Merchant) were a formidable partnership in the centre of midfield and created numerous opportunities. The half time score of 3-1 was a fair reflection of the first period and the swift passing and ball play from North Wilts.

The second half was much more competitive , with the Oxford team creating lots of attacking manoeuvres, only to be thwarted by man of the match, Curtis Walker, in the North Wilts goal; playing behind a strong defence, marshalled by skipper Ethan Bond, tough tackling Tommy Dearsley and supported by the pacey and combative full backs Joseph Slack and William Rawlinson. Oxford eventually found the net, but further strikes from striker Daniel Goss (making his reps debut) and the ever dangerous Daniel Hopper, secured a fantastic 5-2 victory. (ID)

Very brief report from last month: U11s away to OML

Thanks to all the boys who played at Wantage last week. On a very cold evening our hosts were extremely fortunate to win 4-0. We had much the better of the first half, hitting the woodwork on 2 occasions and narrowly missing numerous opportunities. We conceded some very unfortunate goals and the Oxford management team expressed their embarrassment at the score line, after the game. We enjoyed some fabulous performances, with captain Ethan Bond leading by example and securing the man of the match award. Our attacking play, led by Joe Tyson created many chances and causing our host defence lots of problems. Congratulations to Curtis Walker, Louis Brown, Marcus Kershaw, Edward Hobbs and Byron Lucas who were making their representative team debuts. (ID)
