North Wilts & District Youth & Minor Football League

09/10 SEASON MATCH REPORTS

NW&DFL vs. West Bromwich Albion 181109

A well organized, skilful and determined North Wilts League Under 10 squad showed great resilience in coming from two goals down against a very skillful West Bromwich Albion Development Centre at the Corinium Stadium, Cirencester to win 3-2.

The North Wilts team who are now starting to gel as friends and on field team mates started well but the game was very nip and tuck. Despite the end to end nature of the game it was West Brom that took the lead after a long range shot was well saved by Cameron Shipway in the Rep team goal but the ball squirmed free and the rebound was coolly tucked away.

West Brom went two up shortly afterwards, again where the ball was not pressed quickly enough by defence and midfield. The Rep team dug in deep and continued to play simple pass and move football and often outplayed their opponents with some super flowing moves.

The Rep team were rightly rewarded with a goal when another super move resulted in a great low cross from the left that Ashley Prim dispatched coolly past a previously sensational West Brom keeper.

Buoyed by this the Rep team continued to push for an equalizer and from a superb mazy run by Will Thomas the ball found Oliver Rejek who scored a deserved second goal.

As much as a draw would have been a great result the Rep team wanted more and from a great piece of link up play by Sam Brewster and closing down by Will Thomas, the ball found Oliver Rejek who curled a great shot into the far corner to clinch a fantastic victory.

This really was a great result with the team really playing some great football for the limited amount of time that have played / trained together – one proud coach tonight – well done guys.

A special thanks to Pet and Garden Centre for sponsoring our new kit – the boys looked great.

NW&DFL vs. Swindon Town FC 051109

A hastily assembled North Wilts League Under 10 squad lost 5-1 to a well organized Swindon Town U10 squad at the Corinium Stadium, Cirencester.

The North Wilts team who had not previously played together matched their visitors in the early exchanges but were caught out for speed to concede the first goal. A spirited comeback resulted in a well deserved equalizer scored by Oliver Rejek of Cirencester Town.

Swindon’s quick passing and moving scored two further goals to make the half time score 3-1. Despite plenty of industry Swindon were too good for the tiring North Wilts team and Swindon scored twice more and ran out deserved 5-1 winners.
